In our classroom, we give three options to our students after mealtimes (e.g., read a book, draw on paper, or play with the sensory table). With these clear expectations, the students are able to make their choices confidently. Their favorite activity is playing with the sensory table. We put in items related to each theme-Valentine's Day, Winter, St. Patrick's Day, etc. The students have a chance to touch different textures, identify items, and share.\r\n\r\nWhen the students and staff saw the new sensory box, they were impressed by how beautiful it is and how well it blends in with the other furniture. The students immediately ran to the sensory table after their snack.\r\n\r\nWe just wrapped up our Valentine's Day activity, and in the sensory box, there were hearts, pom-poms, necklaces, and scoops. As we approach March and St. Patrick's Day, our students will get to play with related sensory items. Before the school year ends, our students will play with the sand, which is their favorite!
