The costumes and props provided by our generous donors for the Mountain View Theatre Without Borders production of Love's Labour Lost have helped our students significantly. \r\n\r\nFirst, these items are helping us to visualize the period and inspiring us to be better actors in the play. As the photos depict, the props and costumes have taught our female leads to think and move like warriors. Another example is the artificial leaves that inspired our student artists to create a beautiful tree for the forest setting, which is essential to the plot and character interaction. The tree is at the heart of the climax when the male characters reveal themselves to be in love. The items you purchased have truly brought this story to life for a population that has limited exposure to theatre and Shakespeare.\r\n\r\nSecond, this generous donation has underscored the value of our theatre program for the students. When they heard that we had received full funding, they burst into applause. When materials began to come in, the joy was evident in their faces. Every package that arrived was a holiday present. Having the props and costumes on hand at the start of production made the task of storytelling meaningful and fun.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, this kind gift has helped to build a sense of pride and collaboration within our company. As instructors, we can't overestimate your contribution: In theatre, family and camaraderie are everything. We now have all elements in place for our performance on 23 May.\r\n\r\nThank you for your wonderful support of our students and program!","fullyFundedDate":1738444819107,"projectUrl":"project/teaching-resilience-through-shakespeare/9073840/","projectTitle":"Teaching Resilience Through Shakespeare","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Chekin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5592449"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_63104","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":145,"numTeachers":22,"percentFrplEligible":54,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":9,"percentWhite":13,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":69,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"6.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":80.3,"schoolId":63104,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Mountain View High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Mountain View High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/virginia/fairfax-county-public-schools/mountain-view-alternative-high-school/63104"}
