Having extra chargers available means a dead Chromebook no longer has to mean lost instructional time.\r\n\r\nIt has also led to some pretty funny interactions with my students.\r\n\r\n\"Mrs. Hutton, my Chromebook is dead.\"\r\n\r\n\"No problem! I have a charger!\"\r\n\r\n\"Oh.\"\r\n\r\n😂😂😂\r\n\r\nYou can practically SEE the disappointment on the face of a student who was hoping a dead Chromebook might earn them a break from their assignment. Nice try! Another favorite is, \"I forgot my charger at home,\" followed by me happily pulling one out and saying, \"Good thing I have one for you!\" Suddenly, they remember that I am always prepared for their backup plans!\r\n\r\nThe chargers were especially valuable during MAPS testing. Students needed charged, working devices for the entire testing session, and instead of worrying about a Chromebook dying halfway through, I could simply grab one of our classroom chargers and keep them going.\r\n\r\nThey have also made our everyday lessons run much more smoothly. When we need Desmos to graph a function or students are completing a digital activity, I don't have to find an alternative assignment for someone whose battery is at 2%. They plug in, get back to work, and don't miss out on the lesson.\r\n\r\nIt might seem like a simple classroom supply, but these chargers have removed one more barrier between my students and their learning. Being able to quietly offer a student a Pop-Tart, Slim Jim, or bag of chips without making a big deal about it has been incredibly valuable.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite things is seeing how something so small can completely change a student's mood. A student can walk into class having a rough day, and the minute I say, \"Go grab yourself a snack,\" I get a huge smile and an enthusiastic \"THANK YOU!\" Sometimes that little moment of kindness is exactly what they need before they are ready to settle in and learn.\r\n\r\nAnd, of course, I have learned very quickly that teenagers have STRONG snack opinions. 😂 The Takis are always a hot commodity, the Pop-Tarts disappear quickly, and students definitely keep track of what is still available!\r\n\r\nThank you for helping me create a classroom where students know they are cared for, encouraged, and celebrated.
