Instead of students wandering in empty-handed or waiting for someone to lend them a stray pencil, they can now grab what they need from our supply station and get to work immediately. No more pencil-related delays, negotiations, or the infamous \"I swear I had one earlier\" routine. You gave them the tools to be prepared, and it shows.\r\n\r\nThe Crayola Clicks, InkJoy gels, Flair pens, and Mr. Pen gel pens turned out to be the unexpected heroes of our interactive notebooks. Students love using colors to highlight steps, organize their thinking, and annotate examples. For many of my reluctant writers, having a choice of bright, smooth pens actually makes note-taking feel fun (a sentence I never thought I'd say as a high school math teacher..LOL)\r\n\r\nYour support also helped us stay organized. The Sterilite storage containers now house our supplies so everything stays accessible instead of disappearing into backpacks or getting lost in the shuffle. And our big, bold desk calendar has become the class HQ for upcoming quizzes, test windows, review days, and deadlines. Students check it constantly, a small change that has made a big impact on our routines.\r\n\r\nThese may seem like simple items, but they have transformed our class environment. Our lessons start faster. Students stay focused longer. Collaboration feels easier. And the overall classroom energy is much calmer (and a little more colorful).\r\n\r\nYour contribution didn't just give us supplies, it gave my students confidence, independence, and the structure they need to be successful. One specific moment that stands out happened during our unit review day, students were rotating through stations solving linear equation tasks, and the snacks helped keep them energized and motivated through each rotation. Having a variety of choices like Fruit Roll-Ups, Pop-Tarts, mini Oreos, and Takis made the room feel positive and supported, especially for students who sometimes come to school without breakfast or a midday snack.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the boxes being opened, their eyes lit up. They immediately started pointing out their favorite items, some wanted the Takis Fuego, others were thrilled about the variety packs of cookies and crackers, and a few were just excited to see snacks they don't often get at home. The room honestly buzzed with excitement. It was a fun moment to see them so happy over something so small, and it made them feel cared for in a way that truly matters.\r\n\r\nAs for what's next, we are continuing our current math unit and preparing for our upcoming assessment. These snacks help students stay focused during small-group work and give them the energy they need to persist through more challenging tasks. We'll be using them again during our next station rotation and as incentives for participation, academic perseverance, and meeting personal goals.\r\n\r\nThank you again for investing in our classroom. When a student's Chromebook runs out of battery in the middle of a lesson, they lose the ability to participate, stay engaged, or complete their work. Having the additional USB-C Chromebook chargers ensure that students stay connected to the tools they need to learn, without worrying about their device dying or losing valuable class time trying to borrow a charger. It keeps the flow of learning going and helps students stay focused from start to finish.\r\n\r\nWhile the chargers help students stay ready to learn, the early finisher materials—coloring books and high-quality colored pencils—are what students get most excited about. Now that phones are no longer allowed in class, they love having a calm, creative option when they finish their work. These materials give them a sense of choice and ownership over their downtime. Students enjoy the relaxing designs and vibrant colors, and it creates a peaceful atmosphere in the room instead of boredom or distraction. \r\n\r\nSeveral students who used to quietly panic when their Chromebook battery dropped to 10% now feel relieved knowing a charger is always available. One student in particular—who relies heavily on Desmos because it helps her be able to do the math—has said that having a charger nearby helps her \"not stress about the technology and just learn the math.\"\r\n\r\nOn the early finisher side, a few students who often finish quickly (and previously struggled with staying off their phones) have really embraced the coloring books. They look forward to adding a little bit to their page each day, and it helps classroom transitions stay smooth and quiet.","fullyFundedDate":1746827116555,"projectUrl":"project/get-off-your-phones/9322199/","projectTitle":"Get Off Your Phones!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hutton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7629340_orig.jpg?crop=537,537,x477,y140&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1619636342835","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mshutton"},{"teacherId":7629340,"projectId":9292273,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, my students walked into a classroom this school year where they immediately felt prepared and welcomed. The resources you helped provide (pencils, composition notebooks, microfiber cloths for erasers, and colorful pens) have already made a noticeable impact in their confidence and readiness to learn.\r\n\r\nThe Ticonderoga pencils (both classic yellow and the student-favorite pastel casings) have been the quiet heroes of our daily routines. Every day, students grab a pencil from our \"Take What You Need\" bin without the fear of being penalized for not having one. This small shift has removed a huge barrier and keeps our class starting on time, focused, and stress-free.\r\n\r\nThe composition notebooks have become our interactive notebooks this year. Students use them for warm-ups, reflections, examples, and notes and the consistency of everyone having the exact same notebook has made it easier for all students to stay organized and locate their learning quickly. It has also helped build a sense of community and shared purpose: \"We all have what we need to learn today.\"\r\n\r\nThe microfiber cleaning cloths have been a surprisingly fun addition! Students love being able to quickly wipe down their whiteboards during stations, partner work, or exit tickets. It keeps our space clean, helps transitions run smoothly, and honestly just adds a tiny bit of joy to routine tasks. Much better than having to use tissues for wiping white boards, because those are hot commodities!\r\n\r\nThe reactions were exactly what you would hope for:\r\n\"Miss, these pencils WRITE so nice!\" (when I let them borrow the pastel ticonderogas haha)\r\n\"We all get our own notebook? Like... to KEEP?\"\r\n\"Can I pick the pen color? That's so cool!\"\r\n\r\nYou helped create a space where students feel taken care of before they even begin their work and that emotional safety matters just as much as the supplies themselves.\r\n\r\nSo grateful for your support and generosity!","fullyFundedDate":1746528204144,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-basics/9292273/","projectTitle":"Classroom Basics","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hutton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7629340_orig.jpg?crop=537,537,x477,y140&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1619636342835","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mshutton"},{"teacherId":7629340,"projectId":9630308,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, my Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 students have been using our new supplies every single day for our notebooks and they've already made a huge difference in the flow, energy, and independence in our classroom!\r\n\r\nThe Elmer's purple glue sticks immediately became the stars of the show (I don't know why - but they prefer these to the regular white ones haha). Students loved watching the glue go on purple and dry clear, and it helped us keep our foldables and example cards neat and organized. The bright Astrobrights cardstock has been perfect for our table of contents pages, and I've put them to good use for our stations activities as well! Especially our new function-sorting activity! The bold color helped students quickly locate directions and materials at each station, which kept transitions smooth and engagement high.\r\n\r\nMeanwhile, the pre-sharpened pencils have been a lifesaver during warm-ups and group work. Instead of losing time at the pencil sharpener, students could grab one and get right to the math. And the Kleenex boxes... well, in a high-school classroom in November, there is no greater act of love than tissues everywhere. My students thank you for that more than you know!\r\n\r\nWhen they first saw stacks of new glue sticks and bright cardstock come out of the boxes, the reaction was instant:\r\n\"WE GOT NEW SUPPLIES?!\"\r\n\"Are these the nice glue sticks?\" (aka the purple ones NOT the white ones LOL)\r\n\"Miss, the paper is SO BRIGHT — I love it!\"\r\n\r\nAnd honestly, the Uno and Uno Flip games were the ultimate surprise. My students immediately asked when we could use them for brain breaks and reward days, and the excitement around having something fun (that isn't on a screen!) was so wholesome. I even taught some of them to play Uno because they had never actually played before!!\r\n\r\nThank you again so much, we appreciate all your support and kindness!","fullyFundedDate":1757423403679,"projectUrl":"project/interactive-notebook-basics/9630308/","projectTitle":"Interactive Notebook Basics","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hutton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7629340_orig.jpg?crop=537,537,x477,y140&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1619636342835","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mshutton"},{"teacherId":7629340,"projectId":9126813,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our classroom with essential period products and comfort items. Your generosity has already made a meaningful difference in our students' school experience — not just academically, but emotionally and socially as well.\r\n\r\nHow we are using the resources:\r\nWe created a designated \"Period Pantry\" in our classroom using the adorable storage cart you helped fund. Inside, students can access pads, tampons, wipes, and the cutest cat-shaped heating pad whenever they need it — no questions asked. We introduced it with a short mini-lesson on wellness, body care, and advocating for yourself, and the pantry has quickly become a small but mighty hub of support. One meaningful moment happened during a test day: a student quietly grabbed supplies and walked back to her seat with confidence, instead of feeling panicked or embarrassed. That independence and peace of mind is exactly why this project mattered.\r\n\r\nStudent reactions:\r\nWhen students first saw the stocked cart roll into our class, the reaction was priceless. They gasped, cheered, and immediately started complimenting the cat heating pad — \"Omg this is SO cute!\" was the most-repeated phrase. Several girls quietly came up afterward to say \"thank you\" and shared how comforting it feels to know they have supplies accessible at school. It was a moment of pure relief and belonging.\r\n\r\nWhat's next for our classroom:\r\nAs we continue learning and building our classroom community, this resource will keep serving students all year long. Upcoming projects include student-created wellness check-ins, reflection activities, and stress-relief routines during exam prep. Our Period Pantry will continue helping students stay focused, feel supported, and show up as their best selves — without missing valuable learning time due to lack of access.\r\n\r\nThank you again for helping create a classroom where students feel safe, cared for, and empowered.
