Its presence has sparked numerous questions and conversations, quickly making it a favorite learning tool. For most of the students, it is their first opportunity to see a 3-D printer in action.\r\n The 3-D printer is not only new to the students, it is new to me. Together we are learning how the 3-D printer actually works, creating models layer by layer. We are also becoming skilled at operating the printer, troubleshooting when things go wrong, and using programs and coding to design and create 3-D prints. \r\n Although we have only had the 3-D printer for a short time, we have been integrating it into our science lessons. In third grade, our new printer helped make the life cycles of the frog and butterfly come to life by printing models of each stage so that students could study them and see firsthand how the animals grow and change. Fifth grade students examined 3-D printed models of the Earth's layers and ocean floor to not only see, but touch important parts of our world that, until now, they had only seen in pictures. These activities are only the beginning of how we plan to make abstract concepts more concrete with our new 3-D printer. \r\n Because of your donation, our STEAM lab now has a resource to provide a unique hands-on learning experience that would not have been possible otherwise. You have helped open the door to innovation and real world learning that will continue to allow our students to grow and excel for years to come. \r\n Thank you again for believing in our students and making this dream a reality. Your investment in their education truly makes a difference.","fullyFundedDate":1759432192400,"projectUrl":"project/bringing-steam-to-life-with-a-3d-printer/9632324/","projectTitle":"Bringing STEAM to Life with a 3D Printer","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Kane","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3218682_orig.jpg?crop=1958,1959,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1726000435119","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3218682"},{"teacherId":10306016,"projectId":9809367,"letterContent":"I am so thankful that through your donations, I was able to get a carpet for my classroom.
