Because of your kind contributions, our orchestra drum set has brand-new heads and a dedicated drum rug, and the difference in our rehearsal space has been immediate and incredible.\r\n\r\nThe new drum heads have completely transformed the tone of our kit. The drum set now sounds crisp, resonant, and balanced with the rest of the string ensemble rather than muffled or out of tune. We recently put them to work during a rehearsal for some pieces that have dremset parts. Your generous donation of 3D printer filament has provided incredible hands-on support for our orchestra program.\r\n\r\nBecause of your kindness, we have been able to print essential tools that keep our classroom running smoothly. We are using the filament to produce cello and bass endpin anchors to keep them from sliding away while playing, keyboard risers, and custom components that allow us to quickly repair damaged student instrument cases. Additionally, we have made lightweight practice mutes to help students quiet their instruments when needed, drum keys to keep our percussion instruments tuned, and personalized nametags that give every student a clear sense of ownership over their equipment. We will continue to make various items to help support the orchestra. The filament has been a game changer. We have 3d printed stamps, cookie cutters, shape cutters and many other forms. These forms have allowed our students to create cleaner work and higher craftsmanship. \r\n\r\nOne great example, our students create ceramic baskets and the circle cutters have helped clean up the woven pieces before we place them in a mold. We have seen a rise in the quality of the ceramic baskets because of the use of the filament to create these cutters. The students also enjoy the new name stamps. They use these on the bottom of their wheel thrown work to keep track of each piece. \r\n\r\nThank you again for all your support. The use of the new technology, 3-d printing, is exciting and has endless possibilities. We have been using it almost daily in class and on our recent trip to Orlando! I've been using various mounting methods to capture new perspectives. On our trip, I found myself wearing the camera all day long, always ready to capture the fun exchanges and interactions between the members of the ensemble. I will be bringing it on the upcoming Freshman trip as well! \r\n \r\nI have been attaching the camera to all sorts of things including their music stands, to the white board, and to the drumset. I am positive that the parents and students will really enjoy the new creative ways we can document our lives while in orchestra. I'd say the only issue I have is that I now have SO much content, its definitely going to make organizing and editing the yearbook a much bigger project. Well worth it, though! \r\n\r\nThank you again for your kindness and generosity! We truly appreciate this new tool for our classroom. We are looking forward to bringing this technique into all art classes.
