This time of year is always filled with mixed emotions in our classroom, pride in how far students have come and excitement for all that is ahead, and your generosity has helped us make these final weeks truly special.\r\n\r\nEach morning, students walk in wondering what the ABC surprise of the day will be. That anticipation alone has added so much joy and energy to our classroom routine. Instead of the end of year restlessness that can sometimes set in, students are staying engaged, connected, and eager to participate.\r\n\r\nThe activities have also created new opportunities for students to learn through play and collaboration. Outdoor games like frisbee, ladder ball, sidewalk chalk challenges, and toss and catch activities have brought teamwork and movement into our learning day. Indoors, games like Connect Four have sparked problem solving, turn taking, and conversations between classmates who might not usually work together.\r\n\r\nOur themed celebration days have been just as memorable. Students especially light up on days like Ramen parties, Hawaiian day, and ice cream celebrations. These moments have helped us pause and enjoy the community we have built together while still reinforcing important social and emotional skills like patience, cooperation, and gratitude.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, this countdown has given students a way to reflect on their growth. They are noticing how much they have learned since the first days of school and are taking real pride in themselves as readers, writers, and classmates.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping us end the year with joy, connection, and meaningful memories that will stay with my students long after first grade.\r\n\r\nWith sincere appreciation,","fullyFundedDate":1777477017539,"projectUrl":"project/countdown-to-summer/10210004/","projectTitle":"Countdown to Summer!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Moore","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2651545_orig.png?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1656120218769","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/moore-classroom"},{"teacherId":2651545,"projectId":10204120,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting our classroom snack cart project. Your generosity has made a meaningful difference in our first-grade classroom by helping students stay focused, comfortable, and ready to learn throughout the morning.\r\n\r\nSince adding snack options to our classroom routine, we've seen a noticeable shift in student energy and engagement. The familiar question of \"how many more minutes until lunch?\" doesn't feel as urgent, and students are able to settle into their learning with greater ease. Having a quick, healthy snack available has helped students stay steady and attentive during reading, writing, and math activities.\r\n\r\nWhat stands out most is how something so simple can have such a big impact. Students are able to refocus more quickly, participate more fully in lessons, and approach their work with a calmer mindset. It has also supported a more positive classroom environment where students are better able to regulate their needs and stay present in their learning.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping meet an essential need in such a thoughtful way. Knowing you personally care about our students makes this gift even more meaningful, and I want you to know how much joy and learning it has already brought into our room.\r\n\r\nOur first graders were immediately fascinated by the idea that they would be growing real plants right inside our classroom. The moment we introduced the garden, students started asking thoughtful questions like what plants would grow fastest, how roots would look in water, and what they would notice day to day. That curiosity has carried straight into our science lessons.\r\n\r\nAs we begin using the system, students are taking on the role of young scientists. They are planting seeds, making predictions, and carefully observing changes over time. Even small daily differences—like a sprout appearing or roots stretching—become exciting discoveries that they are eager to share with one another. The garden has naturally encouraged patience, responsibility, and careful observation in a way that feels very real to them.\r\n\r\nWe are also connecting this work to literacy in a meaningful way. Students are using their observations to draw, label, and write about what they see. They are beginning to support their ideas with evidence from the garden itself, which has made their writing more purposeful and engaged.\r\n\r\nThis project has truly brought our plant unit to life. It has turned abstract science concepts into something students can see, touch, and care for every day. Thank you for making that possible for our class. Your support has created an experience my students will remember long after this unit is over.","fullyFundedDate":1777981291963,"projectUrl":"project/planting-seeds-of-curiosity/10203391/","projectTitle":"Planting Seeds of Curiosity","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Moore","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2651545_orig.png?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1656120218769","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/moore-classroom"},{"teacherId":2651545,"projectId":10203329,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting our classroom supply project. Your generosity has provided my first-grade students with the everyday tools they rely on to learn, create, and share their thinking throughout the school day.\r\n\r\nWith these materials now in place, students are able to settle into learning without delay. Something as simple as having a sharpened pencil or the right color marker ready to go has made a noticeable difference in how smoothly our day begins and how confidently students approach their work.\r\n\r\nAcross reading, writing, math, and art, these supplies are used constantly. Students write stories and solve problems with pencils, bring their ideas to life with crayons and colored pencils, and use markers to label diagrams, illustrate thinking, and complete creative projects. Because materials are organized in pencil boxes and supply caddies, students are learning how to manage their own tools and take responsibility for keeping our classroom running well.\r\n\r\nOne of the most important shifts has been how much more independent students have become. Instead of stopping to ask for materials, they are problem-solving on their own and staying engaged in their learning. That independence has created more time for instruction, collaboration, and meaningful work.\r\n\r\nThank you for making sure our classroom is stocked, organized, and ready for the kind of learning that happens every day in a first-grade room.","fullyFundedDate":1779326561117,"projectUrl":"project/looking-sharp-in-1st-grade/10203329/","projectTitle":"Looking \"Sharp\" in 1st-Grade!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Moore","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2651545_orig.png?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1656120218769","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/moore-classroom"},{"teacherId":2651545,"projectId":10180669,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting our classroom organization project! Now, our monthly STEM kits are neatly organized and ready to use, making transitions smoother and allowing students to spend more time learning and creating. The smaller baskets have also helped keep frequently used materials within reach, encouraging students to take responsibility for their workspace and materials.\r\n\r\nOne of the most noticeable changes has been the increase in student independence. Students can quickly locate what they need, clean up efficiently, and focus their energy on problem-solving and exploration rather than searching for supplies. An organized classroom has created a more productive learning environment where hands-on STEM activities can happen more often and with less interruption.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping create a classroom that is organized, efficient, and ready for learning every day.","fullyFundedDate":1776444112641,"projectUrl":"project/stem-organization-for-creative-learning/10180669/","projectTitle":"STEM Organization for Creative Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Moore","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2651545_orig.png?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1656120218769","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/moore-classroom"},{"teacherId":2651545,"projectId":10156038,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting our classroom library project! The new titles have encouraged students to spend more time reading independently and have helped build confidence as they practice their skills.\r\n\r\nThe reading rug has quickly become a favorite spot for read-alouds, partner reading, and quiet reading time. It has helped create a welcoming environment where students can relax, focus, and enjoy stories together.\r\n\r\nWe are also using the literacy and STEM activities to extend learning beyond the pages of a book, encouraging students to make connections, think creatively, and engage more deeply with what they read.
