Our school is an online charter school, so we run a little bit differently than a brick-and-mortar school. At the beginning of the school year, students can request a Chromebook to use throughout the year. Many students request a Chromebook, while others use a device they already have at home. We also keep a set of Chromebooks in the office for state testing. Students must come in to test in person on a school device for the ACT, and can take the state test virtually in 6-10th grades. State testing requires very specific test settings, so students who don't already have a school Chromebook checked out get one sent to them specifically for their state testing date, and they return it afterward. This year, especially, we started having an issue with families returning their Chromebooks without the chargers. This situation left us short on chargers for students who needed to take the state test and/or requested a Chromebook to use for the remainder of the school year, and for our students scheduled to take the ACT in person.\r\n\r\nYour donation and generosity have enabled us to provide enough chargers to send to students requesting Chromebooks, as well as to students we send Chromebooks to for testing. We also have enough chargers for our 11th-grade students who will take the ACT, so all their testing devices can charge while they test. Your donations also allowed us to get extra chargers, so we have backups if families continue to send their Chromebooks back without them.\r\n\r\nStudents already get very stressed for state testing. Having to wonder whether their Chromebook battery will last the whole test would only add to their stress levels.
