Students made \"meeples\" or game pieces with the clay that was then baked so it would harden. This connected our game making unit with hands-on creation. A lot of students made some really neat meeples and figures. Whether it was a flower theme or a halloween theme, the students had fun and learned about the creation of games.\r\n\r\nThe candle warmers and candy mints will be used next month. We will put wax paper over the candle warmers (to keep the candle warmers clean) and gently put the edges of the chocolate on the wax paper so the edge of the candy melts just enough to connect it to another piece of candy. Continuing this process can create amazing chocolate structures like boxes. I am very excited to see what things my students come up with to make with the chocolate squares.\r\n\r\nI have wanted to do this project with my students for some time now, but it always seemed out of the budget. Thanks to donors like you, my students will get introductory hands-on experience with welding that they wouldn't have gotten otherwise.\r\n\r\nThank you again with all my heart.","fullyFundedDate":1759180355737,"projectUrl":"project/usbe-ai-for-k12-education-makerspace-ma/9753378/","projectTitle":"USBE AI for K–12 Education Makerspace Materials","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Baarz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10265888_orig.jpg?crop=1528,1528,x0,y157&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758083105637","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10265888"},{"teacherId":10265888,"projectId":9720464,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating to my classroom. The students have really been enjoying all of the amazing materials that were donated.\r\n\r\nA couple of examples of how the materials were used - that you can see in the pictures - I had students carve stamps into the foam plates. They made adinkra symbols from Ghana in the foam plates and then pressed the foam plates down with pencils all around the symbol so that when ink is applied, only the symbol will show up when stamped. The students did such a great job with the project and were asking to make more after they finished their Adinkra symbols - which I was able to say yes to because of your donations. \r\n\r\nAnother project we did was we took the wools and formed three colors into a layered ball. Then we soaked the balls in soapy water which causes the wool fibers to tighten. Once the ball in nice and tight (and dry) we cut the balls open most of the way and created they beautiful geodes.\r\n\r\nI am so grateful for donors like you who make it possible for me to continue to provide my students with fun and engaging projects.","fullyFundedDate":1758636511835,"projectUrl":"project/makerspace-fun-usbe-ai-for-k12-educati/9720464/","projectTitle":"Makerspace Fun: USBE AI for K–12 Education","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Baarz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10265888_orig.jpg?crop=1528,1528,x0,y157&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758083105637","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10265888"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_131688","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":401,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":21,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":75,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":15,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":60.0,"schoolId":131688,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about John Hancock Charter School Eagle Mountain on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"John Hancock Charter School Eagle Mountain","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/utah/utah-department-of-education/john-hancock-charter-school-eagle-mountain/131688"}
