Many had never used one before, and within minutes, laughter and teamwork filled the room. We started with simple activities like \"Popcorn\" and \"Mushroom,\" where everyone lifted and lowered the parachute together, learning how to move as one group. It was incredible to watch students of different ages and backgrounds come together so naturally—every hand was needed, every student had a role, and every smile said it all.\r\n\r\nWe now use the parachute regularly for team-building activities, play, and recess. It has also become a fun way to explore movement and science concepts such as inertia. Students are fascinated to see how the parachute responds when they change direction or speed, and they love experimenting with what happens when different objects are placed on top. The parachute gives them a tangible, exciting way to learn through movement and discovery.\r\n\r\nThis parachute has truly transformed our once-a-week sessions into something our students eagerly look forward to. It's not just a piece of equipment—it's a symbol of connection, cooperation, and creativity. Our next step is to build on these experiences with more science and movement-based activities that encourage teamwork and curiosity. Because of your generosity, our students are learning that education can be active, joyful, and full of discovery.","fullyFundedDate":1755722259571,"projectUrl":"project/parachute-power-teamwork-in-action/9597788/","projectTitle":"Parachute Power: Teamwork in Action","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ivie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9133039"},{"teacherId":9133039,"projectId":8607355,"letterContent":"From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your incredible generosity in helping bring ukuleles into our classroom/school. This project has opened up a world of creativity and joy for my students. We've already used the ukuleles for many grade levels, and have one more group to teach. The students have learned about rhythm, and a some chords to play songs. One memorable moment was when we learned different songs, and had a battle of the bands. The students learned \"My County Tis of Thee\", \"The Itsy Bity Spider\", and \"You are My Sunshine\". We recorded their performances and had the rest of the school vote for their favorite band. The room buzzed with excitement as their fingers found the strings, and you could see their confidence grow with each note. When the ukuleles first arrived, their eyes lit up—some gasped, others cheered, and one student even said, \"Do we get to play those all day?\" Your support has given them not just instruments, but a new way to express themselves and connect with each other. The students have not only learned music, expression, rhythm, but also team work as they create their bands and work as partners with their ukuleles. \r\n\r\nThanks to you, our classroom/school has become a little window into the power of music, and I know you'd love to hear what's next. We're currently working with 2nd and 3rd graders who will be performing \"It's Raining It's Pouring\" and \"Are You Sleeping\". \r\nWe plan to continue giving all students a chance to learn this new skill with our Kindergarten and First Grade classes in the month of March. Hopefully we will be able to have a multi-grade concert. Your contribution has sparked something special here, and I can't wait to see how their skills—and smiles—continue to grow.
