My third graders have just begun learning multiplication, and these picture books have already made a meaningful impact in helping them understand and enjoy this new math concept. When I read these stories aloud, students instantly connect to the characters, situations, and illustrations. I keep the books displayed near our board so students can revisit them during silent reading time—and they do! One student became so excited about a Halloween-themed multiplication story that he chose it every day for nearly a week, proudly reading sections to classmates and pointing out the math concepts he recognized.\r\nNext week, we will begin division, and these books will continue to serve as an essential bridge between abstract numbers and real-world understanding. Having engaging, accessible texts helps students see that math isn't just something we do on paper—it is part of everyday decisions, patterns, and stories. Being able to refer back to these books while teaching allows students to draw connections, deepen their understanding, and build confidence as mathematicians.\r\nYour support helps make learning meaningful, joyful, and inclusive for all students. They are learning how to analyze texts not just for enjoyment, but also to deepen their understanding of history and science.\r\nIn our classroom, reading time has become one of the most anticipated parts of the day. Students eagerly browse our new book selections, often gathering in small groups to share interesting facts or favorite story moments. These books have made reading both purposeful and enjoyable, helping students connect what they read to the world around them. \r\nSome of my most reluctant readers have shown incredible excitement with these new additions. Prior to this project, many of my students—especially reluctant readers—struggled to connect with the limited titles available in our classroom. It was a daily challenge to find books that truly resonated with them, that reflected their interests, or that made them feel excited to read. Your donation changed that. With your help, our classroom shelves are now filled with books that reflect the curiosity, humor, courage, and dreams of our young learners.\r\n\r\nFrom the moment the books arrived, there was a buzz of excitement. These books offered stories and characters that reflected their experiences, dreams, and challenges, which immediately fostered a deeper connection to reading. Many of my girls, who previously showed only moderate interest in independent reading, began to eagerly reach for books during free time and literacy centers. The availability of stories featuring strong, relatable female characters empowered them to see themselves as leaders, problem-solvers, and creators of their own stories — both on the page and in real life.\r\n\r\nThe books also positively shaped our classroom community. Discussions became more inclusive and thoughtful as the girls shared connections, discussed character decisions, and celebrated moments of courage or kindness in the texts. The stories inspired collaborative projects, journal reflections, and even student-led book talks, strengthening literacy skills and confidence at the same time.
