As a small high school within the walls of a prison, we don't get a lot of attention or resources. But what we do does make a huge impact on the students we work with. Imagine trying to find a decent job with only a Jr. High or Elementary education and a criminal record. Many of the women I work with face that challenge when they get out of prison and they have children to support. We try to help them spend the time they are incarcerated creating a better future for themselves and their families.\r\n\r\nWith limited financial resources and no technology available to the students. Finding curriculum for all the required subjects to get a high school diploma is one of our biggest challenges. With your donation we were able to purchase some new materials for the students to earn CTE credit. CTE is Career Technical Education. In a typical high school, you could earn CTE credit taking an automotive class, or something related to the healthcare field perhaps. Classes that could lead to future careers. We don't have those here, but our students still need a way to earn those credits. That's where your new curriculum comes in. The first option teaches the students about how to look for a job, how to write resumes, how to conduct themselves in job interviews, etc. The second is more specialized around the culinary industry. The students who have done them so far have found them informative and fun. \r\n\r\nThank you again for helping us with your donation.
