The clear bins allow students to independently select their snacks, keeping them focused and fueled. During our daily three-minute snack break, students get up from their desks, stretch, socialize, and reset their energy. Meanwhile, the non-food prize basket has boosted class participation. Students work hard to earn rewards, and fidget toys and heat-changing pencils have become huge motivators.\r\n\r\nMy students were adorable as I put together the snack/prize closet. When the packages first arrived and we unpacked the fidgets, heat-changing pencils, and snacks into the clear bins, my students were buzzing with excitement. One student said, \"No way, we get to pick our own snacks and earn prizes for doing our homework!\" Seeing their eyes light up made it clear how valued and special they felt.\r\n\r\nNow that our reward system and snack routines are seamlessly integrated, my students are motivated to keep working. They are using their fancy new pencils to write summaries and the squishy fidget toys to remain on task.
