We started with a very small collection, so each new book helps us continue to build and grow our library. We are very grateful for the books we have received and are excited to continue expanding the collection in the future.\r\n\r\nOne of the biggest benefits of these new books is that they introduce my students to cultures, myths, and perspectives that were not represented in our library before. Books about Egyptian mythology, Asian mythology, Native American mythology, and other traditions give students opportunities to explore stories and cultures beyond the Greek and Roman myths we commonly study. This helps students see that mythology exists in many different cultures and that there are many different ways to understand and tell these stories.\r\n\r\nWe will be putting these new resources to use through a future student-choice research project. Students will have the opportunity to choose and research a myth from each of the six main continents, with Antarctica being excluded because there is very little traditional mythology associated with the continent. Having books representing different cultures will give students a much better starting point when they begin making their choices. Instead of only being able to choose from the few myths they already know, students will be able to browse the classroom library, discover something that interests them, and then choose a myth or culture they genuinely want to learn more about.\r\n\r\nOur classroom library is still something we would like to continue expanding in the future, but we are very happy with the collection we have been able to build so far. This is such a niche hobby and it seems like you share the same niche! These kids were so excited for this as it was a total surprise to them and they were so excited for the new Switch 2 allowing them to play with the newest games and up to date technology! \r\n\r\nThese kids often feel a bit forgotten. This group is not huge, and does not have the status or love of \"football\" or the success as our debate teams. Just sort of a rag tag group that loves to get together and hang out and compete in what they are good at. \r\n\r\nI asked the coach to get some pictures and write some thank you notes. Knowing this age of kid, I expect you to receive something goofy and short haha. Again, thank you for supporting us.
