They look forward to coming to OT and getting to practice their skills while also having fun. This hands-on technology helps them build communication, teamwork, and self-confidence in ways that traditional lessons can't.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for our students is seeing themselves as creators. They love using professional equipment and learning how to record, edit, and publish their own content. For many, it's the first time they've seen their ideas come to life in a way that can be shared with others.\r\n\r\nOne student in particular has really taken to the technology—he's become our \"sound engineer,\" making sure everyone's mic levels are set just right and helping his peers feel confident speaking on camera. Others have found their voices as interviewers or hosts, learning to ask thoughtful questions and tell meaningful stories.\r\n\r\nWe plan to officially launch our classroom podcast at the start of the new year, where our students will share their perspectives on life, work, and community involvement. Being able to create a safe and calming space at my school has been such an incredible experience, not only for the students, but also for me. I have seen the students find calm from snuggles from the weighted stuffed friends, curling up in the pod chairs, and matching their breathing and heart rate using biofeadback from the Purrbles. They have released tension from their worries finding solace in music, light and movement using the steel drum, starry night sky projector with bluetooth soothing sounds and the jellyfish friends who have been named Squish and Blob. The self regulation skills the students are learning using the tools you provided for them has made a huge impact in their ability to focus and connect better in their classes and out in the community. \r\nThe lending library aspect of this project has brought these regulation tools from the wellness room into the classrooms for more accessibility and frequency of use without added expense to the teachers. The bookshelves you purchased are getting filled with social and emotional wellness books from my library as well as from other faculty members to help the students learn about topics such as resilience, positive mindsets, and commuicating and understanding their feelings. \r\nMy students and I sincerely appreciate the donations to this project One of the greatest impacts on the mental wellness of students is knowing that others see them and are their for them. The classrooms at my school have received a bin which holds the sensory supplies that have been donated. Each bin includes tactile squares, a body sock, fidgets, and visual sensory toys. The classrooms were so excited to receive these bins and have unlimited access to these great tools. \r\n\r\nThe sensory motor path has been placed within one of the classrooms, and one student has already learned to effectively navigate the path providing vestibular and proprioceptive input allowing for a necessary movement break. Because the sensory motor path is placed inside the classroom, the students will be able to use this tool as often as necessary.
