I am a new music teacher at Mountain Shadows elementary this year. as I looked at what instruments were available, I noticed there were some ukuleles, except there were not enough for an entire class. How could I teach my students ukuleles if not everyone could play one? Because of your generosity, six new ukuleles are now in the hand of students in our elementary music classroom, and there are now enough in my classroom for every student!\r\n\r\nOur school serves families in low- and middle-income households, and many of our students would not otherwise have access to instruments at home. The pictures I have included were taken right after we had received the ukuleles. They had only learned 1 chord, and some weren't even able to do that. As I've taught them, I have watched hesitant learners light up as they successfully played their first chord. Students who sometimes struggle academically found a new space to shine music provides them with a different way to experience success. We have come a long way since we first received our ukuleles, we know 6 chords and are preparing for a performance in May for their parents and community. This is all thanks to you.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of our students, families, and school community, thank you for investing in music education and in the potential of every child in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1760720594114,"projectUrl":"project/strumming-success-ukuleles-for-creative/9643162/","projectTitle":"Strumming Success: Ukuleles for Creative Harmony in the Music Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Neil","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10218424"},{"teacherId":5048308,"projectId":9505750,"letterContent":"My project \"A Very Fantastic Year\"has been a wonderful success so far this year. Students are more engaged, confident, and eager to participate—especially those who previously hesitated to try new literacy tasks.\r\n\r\nNext, we'll use these resources to launch a class \"Word Family Challenge,\" where students work together in teams to create and share as many new words as they can.
