We have already started using the AAC device, doll clothes, tractors, and other materials throughout our school day.\r\n\r\nThe AAC device is especially helpful because it gives students another way to communicate their wants, needs, choices, and ideas. We are also using the dolls and play materials to practice communication, fine motor skills, social interaction, taking turns, and functional play. It has been wonderful to watch the students explore the new materials while learning important skills at the same time.\r\n\r\nThe students were so excited when they first saw everything! They immediately wanted to explore the toys, dress the dolls, and play with the different materials. Having items that connect to their interests helps make learning more exciting and meaningful for them.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we will continue using these resources during our daily classroom routines and learning activities. We will work on helping students become more independent communicators, make choices, follow directions, interact with others, and build important life and learning skills.\r\n\r\nhank you again for your generosity and for helping make our classroom a place where students can learn, communicate, play, and grow. We recently got a pretty good snow storm where we have been stuck inside.\r\nThe students love playing connect four, don't break the ice, and tetra towers! It has been fun for me to watch their creativity with the games and how they communicate with each other.\r\nAfter being stuck earlier this year with only a small set of legos and one connect four game, I knew this would be the perfect project for my kinders. Having 22 busy students we needed a lot more options to keep them entertained.\r\nMy students and I thank you.","fullyFundedDate":1763336207228,"projectUrl":"project/inside-recess-for-my-kinders/9899391/","projectTitle":"Inside Recess for My Kinders","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Williams","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10081167"},{"teacherId":10065692,"projectId":9437126,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for making this project come to life! When I first received my materials, I was so excited to start laying out the rug and finding the best place for it and for handing out the kick bands and wiggle wheels. On the first day of school, we were able to use the rug for a variety of different activities and our favorite to do throughout the whole year was read-aloud time. The kick bands and wiggle wheels have made such a difference for those students who needed just a little extra movement. They have not be disruptive at all and they have become a sitting favorite! Our classroom was a little bland before, but now we have a beautiful new rug! These interactive storytelling tools have captivated students' attention, making listening a more immersive and exciting experience. As a result, students have demonstrated stronger listening comprehension skills and are now more eager to participate in discussions and respond thoughtfully in writing. The creative narratives they've been exposed to through Tonies have also sparked improved vocabulary usage and inspired more detailed and imaginative writing.\r\n\r\nIn addition, the fidget bands have provided an essential support for students who struggle with staying focused. By allowing for subtle movement, these bands have helped many of my more energetic learners remain attentive without disrupting the learning environment. They are now more able to regulate their energy and engage meaningfully with lessons, especially during listening and group work.\r\n\r\nTogether, these resources have transformed our classroom into a more inclusive, focused, and creatively rich learning space. We are deeply grateful for the impact they've made on our students' academic growth and overall classroom experience.","fullyFundedDate":1740514481935,"projectUrl":"project/unlocking-literacy-potential/9095593/","projectTitle":"Unlocking Literacy Potential","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lyman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9915315"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_33072","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":547,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":34,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":82,"percentIndigenous":3,"percentLatinx":7,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":1,"percentMultiracialImputed":1,"gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":80.0,"schoolId":33072,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about South Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"South Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/utah/iron-county-school-district/south-elementary-school/33072"}
