It has already made such an ipact with the students that I work with. I wanted this IPAD so my students would be able to participate in learning activities with their peers. I have two students right now that are non verbal and not communicating with peers verbally. During the IPAD I have been able to create communication pages where students can show their knowledge by pointing to the picture and then the IPAD says the word out loud for them. \r\n I have seen my students use this during whole group activities when the other students are counting to 20 my students will use the IPAD to be able to count along with their peers and be able to demonstrate their knowledge. They also were able to look at objects and point to the correct answer of how many are there. I have seen them light up as they are able to show their friends that they know the same content as their peers. \r\n Their peers have also been able to model the correct response to answers on the IPAD so everyone is using it in the class. I also uploaded real pictures of our classroom into the program and the students were so excited to point to the picture on the IPAD and the item in the room. We also took pictures of each child so that they could request a turn with friends and say their names. It really has had such an impact for the learning and interaction of all students in my class. Throughout our district, we have over 300 Ipads being used with students who are nonverbal, and I personally have been priveledged to work with many of them throughout my time at Granite School District. However, Ipad screens get broken often and then my students have to go without their dedicated devices they use to communicate with others. These screen protectors will go such a long way to ensure that screens are protected and will decrease the chance my students won't be able to communicate their basic wants and needs to others. These screen protectors enable my students to have confidence carrying their devices all around the school and at home, and making sure they won't be stuck without their words to talk with others!
