Our school has mostly hand-me-down instruments that have gone through several schools before coming to us. So when we add that to the enthusiastic playing that is common with elementary aged students, it makes things get gnarly quickly. \r\n\r\nWith these instruments they not only have something of quality to play, but they feel more valued. Instead of getting leftovers they get to have something that was meant for them. So many of our students already face financial restrictions and let downs, which brings feelings of inadequacy and being forgotten. Something as simple as new instruments goes a long way for these kids. \r\n\r\nI will always encourage them to pay it forward and bring support to others when they can. Thank you again and we wish you luck in all you do!","fullyFundedDate":1746463939215,"projectUrl":"project/enthusiasm-and-love-wear-and-tear/9310266/","projectTitle":"Enthusiasm and Love = Wear and Tear","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Mauchley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8670092"},{"teacherId":10013423,"projectId":9318688,"letterContent":"I am excited for this year and the learning that will come from the donations that you have given us. I am using these donations for any student who comes into my classroom. These donations will help 60+ students just in this year alone. In the last three weeks, we have painted, colored, thought, imagined, and created. We have discovered animals, rocks, landforms, math, and social-emotional learning through the donations of you. Here are two examples and the impacts that we have seen in the classroom from the donations.\r\n\r\nFirst, East Elementary's Second Grade has many readers that can read fluently or at grade level. We have at least 21 out of 60 students that read well. This is 35 percent. The problem we face is that they cannot comprehend and summarize what they have read. This leads to not knowing what the text is about and little learning will be achieved. With your donation and a curriculum that specifically teaches about comprehension; we have second graders who are able to make connections with the assigned reading, and on their own with texts they are excited to read about. In the slide show, I have pictures of books purchase, in your name, and the connection maps; that show the students being able to: comprehend the topic of passage, use background knowledge of topic to predict, and connect their knowledge to the passage. When the students follow all steps, they are able to remember, summarize, and comprehend the passage. \r\n\r\nSecond, Many of the donations are used for STEM learning. This year we are trying to connect learning with real-life applications. For one of the first lessons in Math, we are exploring the concept of \"Math is all around us\" and \"Math has patterns\". Students were to create math problems and draw \"What Math means to me?\". These students were able to connect real-life problems that they have seen to their lives. They were able to show me that there are patterns when we calculate and count. In Science, students learned that landforms come from erosion and plate tectonics. As we discovered and identified the names of the different landforms from around the world, students demonstrated proficiency by creating playdough molded volcanos and islands. Students then painted the landforms with little to no help. This is a great thing to see because the students can demonstrate independent learning of the concepts. \r\n\r\nWith your donations, students have been able to exercise independence and choice when learning. I am excited to see what more learning can come from your generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1746785972651,"projectUrl":"project/supplies-to-engage-brains-and-create-sc/9318688/","projectTitle":"Supplies to Engage Brains and Create: School Supplies Wanted!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rasmussen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10013423_orig.jpg?crop=327,327,x677,y532&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746408000831","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10013423"},{"teacherId":8670092,"projectId":8981760,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous help with our project!\r\n\r\nAs soon as my students saw them they were really excited to use something new and colorful. I had a lot of compliments from other teachers as well. It's so helpful for them to have a surface to write and draw on without the need for desks. \r\n\r\nI'm especially grateful for these new clipboards, bot just because of their functionality, but because it will be easier to take care of them. Our previous clipboards (while very sturdy) were difficult to clean. Which is especially troublesome when students write inappropriate things on them. \r\n\r\nThe books that were donated have been a huge help for my students who have a hard time participating and focusing with the class. These books help them to learn something new in the music classroom and practice their vital reading skills as well. \r\n\r\nWe wish you all the best and thank you so much for your support!","fullyFundedDate":1733261646407,"projectUrl":"project/help-us-learn-and-write-in-the-music-roo/8981760/","projectTitle":"Help Us Learn and Write in the Music Room","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Mauchley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8670092"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_33046","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":326,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":53,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":64,"percentIndigenous":11,"percentLatinx":15,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":60.5,"schoolId":33046,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about East Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"East Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/utah/duchesne-county-school-district/east-elementary-school/33046"}
