The art drying rack has been their favorite thing so far! There are 28 kids in our class and I don't have much counter space. Without this drying rack, we wouldn't have been able to do so many art projects this month! We have painted with water colors, made art with Elmer's glue, and most recently, made autumn leaves with corn syrup and food coloring. They needed a whole week to dry, so we definitely couldn't have done that project without the drying rack. I'm sharing it with the kindergarten teacher next door, thanks to its wheels, so it's doubling its impact!\r\n\r\nThe easel is the other favorite of the students'. I had one, so this allows 4 kids to paint at a time during centers, instead of just 2. They are so grateful!\r\n\r\nMy new favorite set up is the book shelf with storage. It's the perfect spot to store our current phonics readers in easy reach, and our magnetic letter trays for phonics time. It's helped organize our room so much! \r\n\r\nI almost forgot their true favorite item was the kinetic sand and toys. It has added a lot of fun to their centers, to have the easels for art, and kinetic sand in the sensory table.","fullyFundedDate":1755702102609,"projectUrl":"project/kindergarten-essentials/9577569/","projectTitle":"Kindergarten Essentials","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Nielsen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8149335"},{"teacherId":8149335,"projectId":9543677,"letterContent":"I was so surprised when I got the notification that Tanner Clinic had graciously funded our hands-on literacy project! I wanted to share with you a quote from one of today's top literacy instructors from the University of Florida Reading Institute, Holly Lane. She said, \"word work with manipulative letters emerged as THE most important contributor to student growth. In this study, we used magnetic letters and students did the manipulations themselves. In reading, we use manipulative letters to make the abstract concepts of phoneme manipulation more concrete. You can model pulling the letters apart, pushing them together, or moving them around.\"\r\n\r\nYou have given each of my Kindergarten students the opportunity to have these amazing magnetic letter trays so they can have this concrete way to learn to blend and read words, along with spelling at the same time. \r\n\r\nWe started our magnetic letter trays by just passing them out to learn the routine of how to use them. They were excited because they looked like little computers and they pretended to type on them. Now, we're adding new letters each week as we learn them, and they get so excited to earn those new letters! They are reading and spelling together. It pushes my highest readers who can go quickly, while giving my lowest readers the opportunity to sound out and find the letters, without being held back by needing to write them yet. It's the perfect scaffold to help them be successful. They are so proud to already be reading and spelling. So many parents said at conferences this week that their kids came home so excited to tell them they can read and spell on their word work trays! \r\n\r\nSoon, they'll have all the letters on their alphabet tray, and in the spring we get to continue adding magnets with digraphs (2 letter spellings like th, ck, etc). This is a tool we'll use daily, all year long!\r\n\r\nThank you so much for your generous donation!","fullyFundedDate":1755754589878,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-literacy/9543677/","projectTitle":"Hands-on Literacy","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Nielsen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8149335"},{"teacherId":5939602,"projectId":8578714,"letterContent":"My sixth-grade students got excited when they saw the new robot kit. My students used the kit to build various robots and enjoyed the challenge of problem-solving, working together, and communicating with fellow students as they worked on the build. \r\n\r\nStudents were able to work on the class robot when they had finished other work. This created a good enrichment opportunity for students who finished early and it was also a good motivator for students to complete their classroom work.\r\n\r\nI am so grateful for your generosity in funding this project. Your thoughtful contribution has made a meaningful and lasting impact on our classroom.\r\n\r\nA couple examples of the beneficial impacts these materials have brought to our classroom: the Magnetic Drawing Boards have sparked creativity and built fine motor skills as children express themselves through drawing and early writing activities. These boards provide a fun, mess-free way for students to practice letters, shapes, and storytelling, turning learning into a playful and engaging experience. The building kits have been a wonderful addition to our hands-on learning approach. They encourage critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving as students construct imaginative structures together. It has been inspiring to see how these materials promote teamwork and foster engineering concepts in such young learners.\r\n\r\nYour support has truly enriched our learning environment and opened doors for discovery, creativity, and joy.
