Students quickly see that if something doesn't work the first time, they can adjust their design and try again. Even some of my quieter students have been more willing to participate when they can hold a character while they share.\r\n\r\nAs we continue building our understanding of story elements like characters, setting, and problem and solution, these materials are giving students a concrete way to practice retelling and discussing stories. They're beginning to retell stories more independently and with greater confidence.
