My students love the books. We use them in small group. We have been reading one book, and then sharing who is in the book and what they did. This helps with their comprehension. Most can write a sentence, but still are working on making it look nice! We practice writing with proper capitalization, punctuation, and spaces. They are more excited to write about these characters, than the boring ones we've been reading from the school district. \r\n I also have been reading them to my English Learner students. They struggle with abstract ideas in books, so they love the fun characters of Pete the Cat, Clark the Shark and Elephant and Piggy. I notice that they are more involved when I read it to them, instead of reading about \"Sam and Nan\". \r\nThese books have added to our classroom immensely. We are grateful for your generosity and contribution to public school.","fullyFundedDate":1724536730347,"projectUrl":"project/kind-readers/8478159/","projectTitle":"Kind Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Oldroyd Nielsen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9581285"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_33314","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":634,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":38,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":44,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":46,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":72.0,"schoolId":33314,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Cherry Hill Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Cherry Hill Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/utah/alpine-school-district/cherry-hill-elementary-school/33314"}
