These small but meaningful items have made such a big difference. Many of my students come in needing a quiet moment to reset or talk through their feelings, and being able to offer them something to eat helps them feel cared for and ready to open up. It's amazing how a simple snack can help meet a basic need and create a sense of safety and trust.\r\n\r\nI'll never forget the smiles and excitement when they first saw the stocked shelves. One student said, \"You mean we can really have these?\" That moment reminded me that sometimes, meeting emotional needs starts with meeting physical ones. Your generosity has made my office a more welcoming and supportive place for all students who visit, whether they're struggling, celebrating, or just needing a break.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, I'll continue using these snacks to support my \"Snack & Share\" moments, where students can reflect on their day, talk through challenges, and learn self-regulation strategies in a safe environment. Thank you for helping make my counseling office a place where students feel seen, supported, and cared for — one snack, one conversation, and one heart at a time.","fullyFundedDate":1760020644872,"projectUrl":"project/a-full-stomach-a-full-heart-snacks-for/9783050/","projectTitle":"A Full Stomach, A Full Heart: Snacks for Counseling","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Olsovsky","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4452803_orig.png?crop=374,374,x0,y13&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1724165217933","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-olsovsky"},{"teacherId":4452803,"projectId":8679616,"letterContent":"Your contribution to this project has impacted our students in such a positive way. Students have shown so much excitement for the sewing club and learning a new skill. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2025, was our first time to be able to meet together, and boy was it a fun time!\r\nWhen the students walked into the sewing area, they were so excited to see the new sewing machines set up and ready to go. They could not wait to get some fabric and get sewing! Our first project was to sew a fabric corner page bookmark. They loved picking out the fabric and creating something new. The look of accomplishment on their faces was priceless!\r\nWe have big plans for our sewing club this school year. I have reached out to a local foster care rainbow room and we will be donating small blankets that we make in our club. These blankets will go to children that have been placed in foster care and will be an item of comfort that they can take with them as they grow up. Thank you for not only giving to help our students learn a new skill, but also to give them a feeling of pride as they give to their community and help others.","fullyFundedDate":1726755212209,"projectUrl":"project/spool-kids-helping-students-find-a-lov/8679616/","projectTitle":"Spool Kids : Helping Students Find a Love for Sewing","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Olsovsky","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4452803_orig.png?crop=374,374,x0,y13&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1724165217933","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-olsovsky"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_13861","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":264,"numTeachers":17,"percentFrplEligible":92,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":49,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":48,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"15.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":95.7,"schoolId":13861,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Yorktown Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Yorktown Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/yorktown-independent-school-district/yorktown-elementary-school/13861"}
