All of my students have Individual Education Programs or IEP's, which means a team of educators including the speech therapist, physical therapist, occupational therapist, general education teacher, diagnostician, administrator, and special education teacher get together and create an individual plan for each child. Every year we update each child's individual goals based on their current levels and progress from the previous IEP. I am able to program whatever language I need into the Avaz communication app in order to assist students in participating in all of my lessons. For example, I can have a math folder with buttons saying all of the numbers, plus, minus, equals, sum, etc. and while I am teaching an addition lesson on the board, they can type 2+7=9 on their device to answer a question. I was beyond thrilled to see so many students in the library trying out the new bean bags as they looked at books with their book buddies.
