One of the hardest things for kindergarten students to do is sit still. Why should they be forced to sit in a boring hard chair all day? They are 5-6 years old and need motivation to want to sit and learn. Flexible seating is a great way to keep students engaged while learning. I chose several different chairs and cushions. Wobble chairs, floor cushions, bean bags, and balance balls. Students get turns trying out new styles of seating. These seats allow students to multitask. They can move around, get comfortable, lay down, and do their work at the same time. Our classrooms today should not look the same as they did 50 years ago. Its my job as a teacher to make learning fun and exciting for my students to enjoy learning!
