With the whiteboards, we use them during our games whenever we are studying for our test. The kids absolutely love them. They think they are a much better choice to use rather than a notebook piece of paper. The students absolutely love the beanbags. They use it all the time and they are able to work in groups and have differential seating if they choose to. One specific moment that stood out was watching a student who usually avoids reading settle into the bean bag and finish an entire chapter without prompting.\r\n\r\nWhen students first walked in and saw the materials, their reaction was instant and joyful. There were gasps, smiles, and lots of \"Can I read this one?\" as they explored the shelves. Checking each individual interest and trying to find corresponding books was tough but it is working! Even the first day the students had the books, they were already reading five to ten minutes more per session.\r\n\r\nI have always been an avid reader. Since I was a child, I could get lost in any book. My students struggle though, finding books they actually want to read. So many of them have decided they don't like reading, either because it is tough for them or they haven't found a book that interests them. Every week, during homeroom, the students are required to read for at least thirty minutes. This helps their reading stamina, allowing them to read for longer periods of time. So far, most of them are up to twenty-five minutes! Coming from just ten minutes, that is a huge improvement!\r\n\r\nOn the day I passed out the books, I literally had students exclaim things like, \"Ooh, you got more 'I, Survived' books\" and \"Yay, new books.\" I have one student who loves Greek mythology and the book about the gods and goddesses of Ancient Greece fascinates her.
