The water hose, water wand, and hose reel have made it easier to keep our students cool and hydrated during outdoor activities. The potato sacks and egg-and-spoon race sets have also added fun, hands-on activities that encourage teamwork, balance, coordination, and good sportsmanship.\r\n\r\nWhen our students first saw the new materials, they were excited and eager to try them out! The potato sack races and egg-and-spoon races quickly became favorites, and students enjoyed cheering each other on and celebrating their classmates.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue using these materials throughout our PE lessons to build students' motor skills, coordination, teamwork, and sportsmanship. We will continue practicing different Field Day activities while encouraging students to focus on participation, effort, and having fun. These resources will be used throughout the school year to create engaging and memorable PE experiences for our students.","fullyFundedDate":1778227063401,"projectUrl":"project/unforgettable-field-day/9994202/","projectTitle":"Unforgettable Field Day","teacherDisplayName":"Coach Sanchez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9781725_orig.jpg?crop=2400,2400,x0,y304&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1727463081072","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9781725"},{"teacherId":9687666,"projectId":10060286,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our classroom and providing our students with new sensory materials for our centers! Our Pre-K students were so excited to see all of the new items and immediately wanted to explore, touch, scoop, pour, build, and create. These materials have added so much excitement and hands-on learning to our classroom.\r\n\r\nWe use the sensory materials during center time to give our students opportunities to explore with their hands while developing important skills such as fine motor strength, coordination, communication, problem-solving, and social skills. One of our favorite things is watching students work together at a sensory center, sharing materials, talking about what they are creating, and using their imaginations. What may look like simple play to an adult is actually filled with meaningful learning for our little learners!\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, our students now have more opportunities to learn through play and exploration. It has quickly become one of the most engaging and meaningful learning tools for our students. The soft glow immediately draws them in, sparking curiosity and excitement as they explore colors, shapes, letters, and patterns in a hands-on way. Your gift has truly transformed one of our learning centers into a space where students are eager to discover and create.\r\n\r\nBecause of your kindness, our students are building important early skills every day. They are strengthening fine motor abilities, practicing early math and literacy concepts, and engaging in sensory play that supports both learning and emotional regulation. It has also created opportunities for collaboration, as students work together to build, sort, and imagine. The joy and focus we see at the light table is something special, and it would not be possible without your support.\r\n\r\nThank you again for investing in our classroom and in our students' learning experiences. We are a new school in our district and our classroom library is a work in progress. With your donation of books we have more choices for experiencing new adventures in reading. As fourth graders we need a lot of practice reading so we need a variety of genres. When we finish our assignment in class we can select a book from the classroom library to read. There were gasps, wide eyes, and instant cheers! For many of them, this was their first time experiencing glow-in-the-dark activities, and they couldn't believe something so fun could happen in PE. It felt like a party and a workout all in one!\r\n\r\nWe've been using the new materials in a variety of ways. Not only have students been learning bowling techniques like proper stance, aim, and follow-through, but we've also turned it into a team-building challenge. The students incorporated both strategy and physical coordination. They're not just learning how to bowl—they're learning how to communicate, solve problems, and encourage each other.\r\n\r\nOne unforgettable moment came when a student who usually shies away from physical activity asked for an extra turn. He was so engaged and proud of himself after knocking down all the pins with a straight shot—and the class erupted in applause. That kind of confidence boost is exactly why this project matters.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we're expanding this into a cross-curricular mini-unit. Students will soon be tracking their scores, calculating averages, and graphing their progress—blending math with movement. We're also planning a \"Glow Games Day\" to wrap up the unit, where students will rotate through various glow-in-the-dark stations that reinforce different fitness skills in a fun and unique environment.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, our PE class isn't just about fitness—it's about joy, creativity, and inclusion. Your donation didn't just buy equipment—it gave my students an experience they'll remember for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1758636830356,"projectUrl":"project/glow-in-the-dark-bowling/9558895/","projectTitle":"Glow in the Dark Bowling","teacherDisplayName":"Coach Sanchez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9781725_orig.jpg?crop=2400,2400,x0,y304&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1727463081072","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9781725"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_132197","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":423,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":50,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":26,"percentWhite":29,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":38,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":4,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":80.8,"schoolId":132197,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Jimmie Ray Elementary on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Jimmie Ray Elementary","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/waxahachie-independent-school-district/ray-elementary-school/132197"}
