My students couldn't wait to see what was inside. Unboxing the new wagons, unfolding the chairs, and inspecting the canopy felt like opening holiday presents. The wagons were an instant favorite—students immediately volunteered to test out the wheels and eagerly took on the role of official \"team equipment managers.\" Knowing that generous supporters sent these gifts made our athletes feel truly special and celebrated before we even stepped out onto the field.\r\n\r\nThese new resources have completely transformed our Special Olympics training days and events. Transporting sports gear, water bottles, and sensory materials across large outdoor fields used to be a challenge, and finding adequate shade or rest spots was nearly impossible.\r\n\r\nDuring a recent outdoor track and field practice, the impact of your gift was fully on display. We loaded the wagons with all our equipment, popped up our new canopy at the edge of the field, and set up the chairs to create our official \"team headquarters.\" A standout moment was watching one of my students, who often gets overwhelmed by direct heat and sensory overload, sit comfortably under the shade of the canopy. With a cool place to rest between events, he stayed regulated, energized, and spent the entire afternoon cheering loudly for his teammates running the 50-meter dash. Having that dedicated, comfortable home base allowed him—and so many others—to fully participate and thrive.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our athletes are gearing up for our upcoming regional Special Olympics competition! We will be packing up our wagons, chairs, and canopy to take our portable team headquarters on the road. These materials will serve our students not just for this event, but for every outdoor sports season, field day, and community event to come.
