Your generosity has created a meaningful impact for my students.\r\n\r\nThe rug has quickly become a favorite spot in our classroom. Our scholars love spending time there during indoor recess, where it has turned into a gathering place for reading, chatting quietly, and even collaborating on projects. It has truly made our classroom feel more like a welcoming home, and my students look forward to this special space every day.\r\n\r\nThe class novel set, The House With Chicken Legs, has also been a wonderful addition. As we read together, students have been captivated by Marinka's journey of discovering her identity and finding her place in the world. This book has opened the door to discussions about important themes such as belonging, choices, and friendship. We've also been expanding vocabulary as students encounter new words. They enjoy practicing these words in context and are proudly using them in their own writing and conversations.\r\n\r\nI've seen reluctant readers grow more engaged and eager to participate, while strong readers have been challenged to think more deeply about the text and its themes. The combination of the cozy rug and an engaging novel has fostered both comfort and curiosity, making reading time one of the most anticipated parts of our day.","fullyFundedDate":1742912943915,"projectUrl":"project/cozy-reading-nook-a-rug-books-for-our/9198295/","projectTitle":"Cozy Reading Nook: A Rug & Books for Our Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ramos","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5506010_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1706382489532","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5506010"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_125044","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":818,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":96,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":89.5,"schoolId":125044,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about San Isidro Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"San Isidro Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/united-independent-school-district/san-isidro-elementary-school/125044"}
