I am beyond thrilled to share the incredible impact your generosity has had on my students. When we received our Sphero BOLT+ robots, the atmosphere in our classroom shifted instantly from curiosity to high-octane determination. These robots didn't just sit on a shelf; they became the catalyst for a journey that culminated today at the Sphero Global Challenge. I am bursting with pride to report that our three BOLT+ teams, totaling 15 students, poured their hearts into the competition and swept the podium, taking home 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place! \r\n\r\nThe most exciting part of the BOLT+ for my students was the sheer versatility of the technology. They were mesmerized by the programmable LED matrix and the advanced sensors, which allowed them to see their code come to life in real-time. Watching them transition from simple \"block coding\" to complex logic to navigate the competition's obstacles was a masterclass in student-led learning. They weren't just \"playing\" with robots; they were mastering friction, velocity, and collaborative debugging. \r\n\r\nWhile the entire group excelled, I was particularly moved by a few students who had previously struggled with traditional \"pen-and-paper\" math. When they were having to measure the length they needed a robot to travel on the mat, they asked me for a meter stick instead of a ruler because they need to measure a lot of centimeters. One student said: \"Look guys, each of the square in the mat seems to be 10 centimeters. Let's measure it!\" Another student made the connection about the math they were having to do in math in their measurement unit. The tactile nature of the Sphero robots gaev them a way to \"see\" the math they had struggled to fully understand before. By the end of our prep, they were confident in their guidance teaching their peers how to calculate precise rotations and speed variables based on measurements that had to be precise. The also made the connection between angle measurement and the direction the robot moved towards. The technology didn't just teach them STEM; it gave them a voice and a sense of belonging in the world of engineering.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our \"Houston, We're Ready for STEM\" mission. Your gift has provided these children with more than just hardware-it has given them the life-changing experience of seeing their hard work recognized on a global stage. We are officially ready for whatever the future of STEM holds!","fullyFundedDate":1764730203294,"projectUrl":"project/houston-were-ready-for-stem-bring-on/9891450/","projectTitle":"Houston, We're Ready for STEM: Bring on the Robots!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lozano","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7828793_orig.jpg?crop=1292,1292,x0,y116&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1666125613398","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7828793"},{"teacherId":9121203,"projectId":9872555,"letterContent":"I hope this message finds you well. The students eagerly take turns using it, and it has truly boosted their confidence and public speaking skills. It's heartwarming to see them stand proudly as they share their ideas with their peers.\r\nAdditionally, the rug has been a wonderful addition to our classroom.
