We have been using our rulers, meter sticks, measuring tapes, measuring cylinders, and counting bears to practice measuring, comparing, counting, and exploring. My students were so excited when they saw the new materials and, of course, they wanted to touch and try everything right away! It has been great watching them learn through doing instead of just completing another worksheet.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite parts has been watching their confidence grow. Something as simple as correctly measuring an object and realizing, \"I did it!\" is a BIG deal in our classroom. These small successes help my students become more willing to try things on their own and build the independence we work toward every day.\r\n\r\nNext, we will continue using these tools during math, science, life skills, and other real-world activities. My goal is for my students to understand that the skills we practice in our classroom are skills they can use outside of school too.
