This is particularly helpful as both classes are 100% emergent bilingual students. \r\n I have seen an improvement in their oral language skills as they interact with each other and technology. They are becoming more comfortable using their new skills in a more relaxed setting where they feel they are just having fun with their classmates. They are learning to spell words in English and gaining new vocabulary. They are also pushing forward with their math skills more quickly than typical for this time of year. Because of your kindness, my students now have new books and classroom supplies that are helping them build important phonics and reading skills every day.\r\n\r\nThe new resources have already made a huge difference in our classroom. Students are using the books during small group reading lessons, independent reading time, and phonics activities. One special moment happened during our reading centers when several students excitedly picked up books and began sounding out words they previously struggled to read. Seeing their confidence grow as they recognized letter sounds and blended words together was incredibly rewarding.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new books and supplies, they were thrilled. They immediately wanted to look through every book, share stories with their classmates, and start using the new materials. Many students proudly said, \"I can read this!\" as they practiced their phonics skills. Their excitement and enthusiasm filled the classroom and made reading feel fun and engaging for everyone.\r\n\r\nAs we continue our literacy lessons, these resources will help students strengthen foundational reading skills such as letter recognition, decoding, fluency, and comprehension. Our next steps include guided reading groups, partner reading activities, and phonics practice that will allow students to continue growing as confident readers. The new supplies are helping create a classroom where students feel motivated, supported, and excited to learn.\r\n\r\nThank you again for investing in my students and helping foster a love of reading in our classroom. Your generosity is making a lasting impact on their learning journey.","fullyFundedDate":1746774882574,"projectUrl":"project/phonics-for-friends/9229373/","projectTitle":"Phonics for Friends","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Williams","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9566062_orig.jpg?crop=1560,1560,x2260,y540&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1717958529436","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9566062"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_99611","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":370,"numTeachers":17,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":5,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":93,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"21.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":70.7,"schoolId":99611,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about The Visual and Performing Arts Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"The Visual and Performing Arts Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/texas-department-of-education/southwest-elementary-mangum-campus/99611"}
