These new books have had a meaningful impact on my students. While many people love reading, what may not always be visible is how we use books to teach critical skills. With these texts, students are strengthening comprehension, expanding vocabulary, and developing critical thinking skills. We focus on analyzing characters, identifying themes, making inferences, and supporting ideas with evidence from the text. These lessons help students become more thoughtful readers and stronger learners across all subject areas.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is active and engaging. You will see students participating in discussions, working in small groups, and reading independently based on their interests and reading levels. We incorporate activities like journaling, peer conversations, and reflections to help students connect more deeply with what they read. Students are encouraged to share their perspectives, which builds confidence and creates a classroom environment where their voices matter.\r\n\r\nSome of my students have especially connected with these new books. I've seen students who were previously reluctant readers become more engaged and willing to participate. Others have discovered genres and topics they truly enjoy, which has sparked a genuine interest in reading. It has been incredible to watch their confidence grow as they begin to see themselves as capable and successful readers.
