They have enjoyed experimenting and learning with each and everything that was donated to our classroom. When they found out about our project being funded they celebrated and had could not wait to see all that we would be getting. As the boxes arrived to our classroom they had excitement and surprise for each one we opened. We described it as kind of like Christmas. \r\n\r\nOver the last few weeks they have enjoyed building. experimenting, questioning and building curiosity as they were given the opportunity to discover new material. We have been about to develop new vocabulary when talking about motion and discovering force as things are held together or broken apart. We have lined up the dominoes and tried to understand why some of them fell but why others didn't. We built zoo animals using the brain flakes and other material to build a habitat. \r\n\r\nDonors like you make a difference! We are extremely grateful that you invested in our classroom and gifted us things to discover the world in new ways. We are able to establish an understanding with the material/tools in our classroom and one day will use that to help us make a difference in the world. This is my first year teaching and I was in need of many things. I was going to slowly start purchasing things on my own over the year but your contribution greatly helped. My students were so excited when we would receive packages in the mail and they helped me open them. One thing every classroom needs is a vacuum and it is surprising how everyday my kids look forward to the end of the day so they can help vacuum the classroom. Thank you for the handheld one that turned out to be one of my students favorite activities during clean up time. \r\nThank you to contributing to our classroom library. Some of my students favorites that were sent are The Big Cheese, After the Fall and If Your Monster Won't Go To Bed. We have reading time daily and we enjoy all our new books. We also received some new STEM bin toys. Thank you. These items get played with often. It is fun to see what the students build and the creations they make.","fullyFundedDate":1760658641380,"projectUrl":"project/first-year-teacher-needs-help/9504916/","projectTitle":"First-Year Teacher Needs Help","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lopez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5541918"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_102635","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1626,"numTeachers":71,"percentFrplEligible":69,"percentAsian":14,"percentBlack":6,"percentWhite":49,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":21,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"22.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":70.2,"schoolId":102635,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Gateway College Preparatory School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Gateway College Preparatory School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/texas-department-of-education/gateway-college-prep-school/102635"}
