Our classes include Art 1–4 and AP Art for our high school students in grades 8–12. The smooth tops have made a real difference. Students can spread out their work, draw without bumps or grooves getting in the way, and can gather around one table for group projects.\r\n\r\nThis week, my Art 1 students used the tables while creating banners in support of our volleyball, cross country, and football teams. I watched as they worked through their concept designs and made sure every team member had a part in creating their banner. Moments like that are exactly why these projects matter, and they wouldn't have happened without you.\r\n\r\nWhen the boxes containing the tables arrived, my students were excited and relieved, and they could hardly wait to open them. Several of the football players in the class helped open the boxes, carry the tables to the classroom, and set them up. That excitement hasn't worn off. My students take care of these tables and remind each other to do the same. They told me they were surprised and are grateful to be supported by people outside our school who believe in them.\r\n\r\nNext, we're creating drawings that use four types of color theory, and these tables will play a big part. Before they arrived, the rough surfaces of our old tables showed up as unwanted texture in students' artwork. Now students can create the textures they choose, and their artwork isn't affected by the table surface. I'm excited to see what they create, and I'm grateful you've given them the tools to do it. \r\nThank you for investing in my students at Somerville ISD!","fullyFundedDate":1754421213004,"projectUrl":"project/smooth-move-art-class-tables/9508475/","projectTitle":"Smooth Move Art class Tables","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cochran","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7934254_orig.jpg?crop=600,600,x0,y44&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1627939278689","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/somervilletxhighschoolartdept"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_12045","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":213,"numTeachers":24,"percentFrplEligible":82,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":15,"percentWhite":37,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":40,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":5,"gradesServed":"8 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"8.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":64.7,"schoolId":12045,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Somerville High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Somerville High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/somerville-independent-school-district/somerville-high-school/12045"}
