One of these campuses serves kindergarten, first, and second grade students, and I chose to focus my request on this school because it is where their literacy journey begins. The campus serves approximately 530 students.\r\n\r\nI submitted a request through Donors Choose for $250 worth of books because I found myself in need of additional hard copies of high-quality titles like the ones you so generously provided. During library time, I teach a 15-minute lesson and then have students complete a related activity. Since these students are at such a critical stage in developing a love for reading, I wanted books that highlight themes such as acceptance, respect, family, and kindness.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, I have been able to incorporate these themes into my lessons while also teaching important literary elements such as character, plot, and setting. Sharing these new books with students and their families has been especially rewarding. Students are excited to check out books that have been read aloud in class and are eager to share them at home.\r\n\r\nAll of my students are enjoying the new books, especially the second graders, who are making deeper connections to the stories and themes.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity and for supporting our young readers.","fullyFundedDate":1766770474267,"projectUrl":"project/amazing-books-for-amazing-students/9657276/","projectTitle":"Amazing Books for Amazing Students","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jasso","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9916982"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_18286","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":603,"numTeachers":32,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":98,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"K - 2","studentTeacherRatio":"18.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":50.0,"schoolId":18286,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Josefa L Sambrano Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Josefa L Sambrano Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/san-elizario-independent-school-district/josefa-l-sambrano-elementary-school/18286"}
