They were practicing problem-solving, sharing materials, and learning to take turns—all while enjoying time with their classmates.\r\n\r\nThe students were excited and eager to explore! Watching them settle into this space and become absorbed in their activities showed how much a welcoming classroom environment matters. The rug has helped bring students together and made these shared learning experiences even more special.\r\n\r\nNext, we will use this gathering space as we continue learning about multiplication. Students will work with partners to build equal groups and arrays, explain their thinking, and connect their models to multiplication equations. Many of my students do not have regular access to a library or opportunities to choose and take home physical books, and some were not sure how to select a book that was right for them. Now, students are excited to browse our classroom library, find books that interest them, and see themselves getting closer to finishing a chapter book. They have even started taking their books to lunch and recess so they can read a few extra pages. Seeing students choose to read when they have free time has been one of the most rewarding parts of this project.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom goes beyond simply reading pages. These books give students opportunities to think deeply about characters' choices, make inferences using clues from the text, compare their ideas with others, and explain their thinking with evidence. When several students read the same title, they can discuss predictions, question one another's thinking, and consider different perspectives. The bilingual titles also allow students to engage with challenging stories while building vocabulary and comprehension across English and Spanish.\r\n\r\nThe biggest impact has been seeing students become more independent and confident in their reading choices. Students who were unsure what to pick up are now recommending books to their classmates and looking forward to choosing their next one. Some are proudly telling me how many pages they have left because they are genuinely excited to finish. These books have given my students more than reading practice, they have given them access to stories, choices, and reading experiences that many do not regularly have outside of school. The headphones allow students to fully engage in digital learning platforms without distractions, especially during small group instruction, intervention time, and independent practice. This helps each student work at their own pace while building confidence and independence.\r\n\r\nWhat has been most exciting for students is having their own set of headphones and access to hands-on STEM kits. The headphones make them feel focused and \"in their own learning space,\" while the STEM kits bring learning to life. Students love collaborating, building, and problem-solving together—it turns learning into an engaging, interactive experience.\r\n\r\nSeveral students, especially our English learners and those who benefit from extra support, have really thrived with this new technology. The headphones help them clearly hear instructions, videos, and read-aloud supports, which improves comprehension and reduces frustration.
