Our students have been so excited to get involved with our school garden. Our Pre-K students have partnered up with 3rd graders as well. It's been a pleasure watching our students interact with one another, working for a common goal of making the garden grow and look more beautiful. \r\nWith your donations, we've added to our garden and have been able to have our students contribute to it as well. We've hosted an Art Night in the garden, where students painted rocks to add to garden beds. We also held a Community Garden event that invited families to come help tend to the garden and add mulch. \r\nWe plan to add walkways, a large shade, and more!! As we continue to practice my students are so comfortable and their willingness to work has grown into a very positive attitude. I am the only counselor at an elementary school in inner City Texas. It is a Title 1 school and distrct. We serve over 287 bilingual students many of them recent immigrants from Venezuela, Cuba, and Mexico. It has really made a difference in making my office a cozy, home-like place where they feel comforted and safe. Even the grown ups staff and teachers come over and take a breather in my office as well.\r\n The cozy chairs and pillows, the many books on different topics, and the materials have been used in small groups as well as in the classroom.
