I always get asked questions about the world in my class, and one question that I find most critical to answer is "why do I not see characters that look like me". This is asked almost always by my young girl students, These books will continue to enhance the joy of reading that I strive to create, but most importantly show representation for students with diverse backgrounds. My classroom is designed to be a safe haven for students. I want my library to be the central spot to retreat to for a quiet and comfortable place to practice their reading skills. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.
