The iPad has allowed me to quickly take pictures of student work and display it for the entire class. Instead of simply showing students the \"correct\" solution, we can look at different approaches, discuss why they work, and learn from mistakes. This has helped students become more comfortable explaining their reasoning and has strengthened their confidence in mathematics.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting aspects for students is seeing their own work become part of our classroom discussion. Students enjoy recognizing their work on the screen and having their classmates analyze different solution methods. The iPad also allows us to use tools such as Desmos and GeoGebra to visualize graphs and see changes happen in real time. Concepts that can sometimes feel abstract in calculus become much more tangible when students can actually see how changing a value affects a function.\r\n\r\nThe iPad has also helped extend learning beyond the classroom. I can record short explanations of difficult problems or concepts so students can review them at home or revisit them before an assessment. I can also provide quick feedback, create practice activities, and use digital whiteboards for collaborative problem-solving.\r\n\r\nI have especially noticed students who may be hesitant to speak up in front of the class becoming more willing to participate when they can first share their work digitally. They can see that there is value in different approaches and that making a mistake is part of the learning process. For my calculus students, building that confidence is just as important as finding the correct answer.\r\n\r\nI am very grateful to the donors who made this possible. Your support has given my students a stronger collaborative learning experience and a new way to communicate, visualize, and explore mathematics. Most importantly, it has helped create more of those \"aha\" moments that make learning calculus meaningful.","fullyFundedDate":1775863168056,"projectUrl":"project/ipad-to-improve-the-calculus-world/10141128/","projectTitle":"iPad to Improve the Calculus World","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kim","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10461355"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_9149","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":3863,"numTeachers":211,"percentFrplEligible":32,"percentAsian":28,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":38,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":24,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":4,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"18.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":85.3,"schoolId":9149,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Round Rock High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Round Rock High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/round-rock-independent-school-district/round-rock-high-school/9149"}
