We have noticed remarkable improvement in both tone and tuning across all classes. Right now, our 5th-12th-grade classes are using them. Beginners use them to frequently check the pitch of their mouthpiece and make sure they are playing the correct note. Our higher grades are using them to better understand what \"in tune\" sounds like. The visual aid helps build the ear to establish correctness.\r\n\r\nStudents were curious when trying out the tuners. Only a few high schoolers had ever seen a tuner before. They quickly grasped that the sound of everyone being \"green\" sounded better than the alternative. This made the abstract concept of in-tune something concrete and easier to digest.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, beginner students will continue to develop pitch accuracy and consistent intonation. Older groups are applying those concepts to balance and blend within the full-ensemble setting. These tools will help my students become independent, confident, and long-term musicians.","fullyFundedDate":1760693796652,"projectUrl":"project/help-us-stay-in-tuneliterally/9554655/","projectTitle":"Help Us Stay in Tune—Literally!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Peyton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9925777"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_12926","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":122,"numTeachers":15,"percentFrplEligible":70,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":5,"percentWhite":44,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":48,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"8.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":83.3,"schoolId":12926,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Rotan High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Rotan High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/rotan-independent-school-district/rotan-high-school/12926"}
