The excitement in the room was immediate—many of them couldn't wait to start building. Once they began assembling the robots, that enthusiasm turned into focused collaboration. A standout moment was when students successfully completed their first robot build and quickly transitioned into programming it. During their conference period, robotics students took the lead in teaching their peers how to code, reinforcing their own skills while building confidence as mentors.\r\n\r\nOur 5th grade students especially benefited from this peer modeling. By observing and working alongside the robotics students, they were introduced to foundational coding concepts in a way that felt accessible and engaging. It created a strong sense of community and shared learning across grade levels.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, students will continue developing more advanced programming skills and applying them to new challenges. They will work on refining their robots to complete specific tasks, integrating problem-solving and iterative design. We also plan to expand peer-led learning opportunities, allowing more students to take on leadership roles as they guide others through coding and robotics projects.","fullyFundedDate":1766075188322,"projectUrl":"project/lead-build-code-student-powered-robot/9939251/","projectTitle":"Lead, Build, Code: Student-Powered Robotics for All","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Feliciano","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3442725_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1764648519464","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3442725"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_11519","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":540,"numTeachers":36,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":99,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"15.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":63.0,"schoolId":11519,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Drs Reed & Mock Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Drs Reed & Mock Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/pharr-san-juan-alamo-independent-school-district/reed-mock-elementary-school/11519"}
