My students have really enjoyed having the new seating and sensory items! \r\n One of the funniest moments was when the new seating arrived, the first thing they did was take off their shoes, they wanted to feel the carpet and put their feet on the chairs. They love carrying the seats and sitting on their color of choice. The trampoline has been very important for our classroom, my students need to move and get energy out, and having a safe place to jump has been a great way for them to do that. The only issue we are laughing about is, the shoes! They are everywhere, with time the placement for them will get better, but for now they are loving everything! I also wanted to comment on the fish sensory lamps, I highly recommend them for everyone, they are so soothing and relaxing to view. The colors are calming and the light is good for our time with lights off. \r\n\r\nMoving forward, we are continuing to work on our classroom routines, learning to share and take turns. My students have absolutely thrived with their new flexible seating! From the moment they saw the new chairs, cushions, and seating options, they were full of smiles and excitement. They immediately wanted to try everything and quickly began discovering which seating choices helped them feel the most comfortable and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nFor my Life Skills students, being comfortable in their own bodies is such an important part of being successful at school. These resources have given my students opportunities to move, regulate their bodies, and choose seating that meets their individual sensory and learning needs. We have noticed a calmer, more understanding learning environment where students are able to participate in small groups, complete classroom activities, and remain engaged for longer periods of time. Their smiles truly have not stopped!\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue teaching our students how to independently recognize what their bodies need and choose the seating option that helps them learn best. As we continue working on academics, communication, social skills, and independence throughout the school year, these flexible seating options will be part of our everyday routines. My students truly loved using the lasers as they learned about the properties of light. Through your donation, they were able to see firsthand how light travels in a straight line. They especially enjoyed using the diffraction glasses, which helped them understand that white light is made up of all the colors of the light spectrum.\r\n\r\nStudents have also been using the new triple beam balances and thermometers in our science lab to practice measuring mass and temperature. These hands-on tools helped students feel like real scientists as they carefully measured, observed, and recorded their results.\r\n\r\nThese materials will continue to be used for many years as new students come through the science lab. Your generosity is making a lasting impact by providing meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that spark curiosity and excitement for science.
