Now that everyone has a pair of headphones to use, they feel more confident in themselves and a lot less self-conscious about being the only ones using headphones. \r\n\r\nOne of my favorite things has been seeing my students' excitement when they put on their brand-new headphones and get ready to learn. They love that the headphones are comfortable, work well, and are theirs to use. They especially like the colors! Some of my students have really connected with them because they can tune out the surrounding noise and concentrate on their work - especially when they are working one different programs. I think it's important for students to have options for how they read. Students can access physical books through the classroom library or ebooks and audiobooks through the Sora digital library. Playaways are another option in my classroom thanks to your donation. They are audiobook devices where students need a battery and earbuds to listen to a story. They can take these devices anywhere, and they don't require a computer or internet connection. This makes it more equitable for students that don't have access to these at home. \r\nMy students were so excited to get their own set of earbuds and to make their way through my Playaway audiobook library. Some students even like to use the earbuds for their Amira reading practice and Zearn math practice. A couple students have brought their Playaways and earbuds to recess and lunch. They're so engaged with the stories, they don't want to put them down. My emergent bilingual students have been able to listen and absorb rich English vocabulary through the audiobooks.
