My students were beyond excited to set up the terrarium and add the coconut hut, carefully creating habitats for our Snowflake Tree Frogs and our axolotl. From the very beginning, their curiosity came alive as they observed behaviors, asked thoughtful questions, and connected our lessons on ecosystems and life cycles to real living creatures.\r\n\r\nEach resource played an important role in their learning. The shelter and heat lamps helped students understand how animals depend on abiotic factors and the right environment to survive, while thermometers allowed them to measure and track changes like real scientists. Habitat decor and care supplies gave them the opportunity to design environments and take responsibility for daily care routines.\r\n\r\nOne student shared, \"I feel like a real scientist because I get to watch them every day and take care of them!\"\r\n\r\nMost importantly, I saw my students grow in empathy, teamwork, and confidence. They took pride in caring for our animals and worked together to share discoveries. Thank you for making this meaningful, hands-on learning experience possible. Your support has made a lasting impact on my students that they will remember for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1769191970089,"projectUrl":"project/living-science-habitats-for-curious-mi/10020970/","projectTitle":"“Living Science: Habitats for Curious Minds”","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Blair","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10404393"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_14615","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":225,"numTeachers":18,"percentFrplEligible":87,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":79,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":18,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"12.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":74.8,"schoolId":14615,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Newcastle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Newcastle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/newcastle-independent-school-district/newcastle-school/14615"}
