These books have given students a more in depth look at different cuisines, cultures, techniques and recipes along with some more odd takes on food and different ways of doing things. \r\n\r\nBooks in my class are available to students at any time and they are allowed to borrow them at any point. This has led to students spending their spare time learning more about culinary arts on their own. This is what I hoped would be the case when I had the idea of bringing cookbooks into my class. It allows the students to explore their curiosity and inspires them to continue learning about culinary when they are outside of the classroom. \r\n\r\nWith most of my students being in introduction classes, the mix of books that focus on recipes and books that show the more scientific/fundamental side of cooking has shown the students that there is so much more to cooking than meets the eye. This has been an amazing thing to witness first hand. I hope that these books continue to make a positive impact on my students for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1774611866229,"projectUrl":"project/build-our-culinary-library/10166018/","projectTitle":"Build Our Culinary Library!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Whisenant","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10468748_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1774232146438","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrwhisenant"},{"teacherId":561006,"projectId":9266766,"letterContent":"The community share drawer has become an invaluable resource in my classroom. Students regularly access essentials like snacks, hair ties, and feminine products, which helps them stay comfortable and focused throughout the day. Your generosity has given our students the external hard drive and individual SD cards they've been dreaming about, and the excitement in our classroom has been absolutely contagious.\r\n\r\nHow Your Gift Is Powering Learning\r\n\r\nMany of our donors use technology at home and might not see firsthand how differently it's used in schools. In our classroom, these tools mean real, meaningful learning:\r\n\r\nThe external hard drive gives us a secure, organized space to store all the incredible video projects, digital stories, and photography assignments our students create. It means we can revisit, share, and build on these projects without worrying about lost files or frustrating delays.\r\n\r\nThe individual SD cards are game-changers. Every student now has their own card to record, manage, and own their creative process—helping them learn responsibility, organization, and pride in their work.\r\n\r\nWhat Has Everyone Most Excited?\r\n\r\nThe energy in the room is palpable! Students are practically buzzing to film short documentaries, record digital storytelling pieces, and work on collaborative media projects. Knowing they have their own SD card means they can now capture ideas the moment inspiration strikes—from lunchtime interviews to make-believe short films during free time.\r\n\r\nSpotlighting Some Extra-Special Moments\r\n\r\nMaria, who's often shy during group work, has been recording short monologues and interviewing her classmates—suddenly, she's brimming with confidence and storytelling pride.\r\n\r\nJamir, our budding photographer, downloaded and backed up his digital photos effortlessly, taking time to curate a mini-portfolio of his best shots.\r\n\r\nEven our most technology-hesitant students are diving in enthusiastically—once they realized there was a dedicated place for their work, their faces lit up. It's been such a joy to watch.\r\n\r\nYour contribution is about so much more than just storage—it's giving our students tools for creative expression, ownership, technical learning, and collaboration.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our classroom, for fueling creativity, and for making every student feel seen and supported. You've truly made a lasting impact on their educational journey.","fullyFundedDate":1746636102005,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-student-filmmakers-with-essen/9169618/","projectTitle":"Empowering Student Filmmakers with Essential Storage Tools","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. V","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8717155_orig.jpg?crop=1648,1648,x424,y256&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1663864094021","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mike-victorick"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_130405","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":363,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":77,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":14,"percentWhite":23,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":54,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":2,"gradesServed":"9 - 9","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":89.2,"schoolId":130405,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about West Fork High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"West Fork High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/new-caney-independent-school-district/west-fork-high-school/130405"}
