I am incredibly grateful for your generosity and support of our classroom. Because of you, my students now have journals that they use every single week to express themselves as writers, artists, and thinkers. These journals have already become one of the most loved and meaningful tools in our classroom.\r\n\r\nWe primarily use our journals for weekly poetry writing, and it has been such a joy to watch my students grow through this routine. Each week, students are given the opportunity to write poems about topics that matter to them—family, friends, pets, seasons, feelings, and their everyday experiences. After writing, they illustrate their poems with pictures that match their ideas, which helps them deepen their understanding of how words and images work together to tell a story. This combination of writing and drawing has been especially powerful for young learners, allowing every student to feel successful and proud of their work.\r\n\r\nThe students absolutely LOVE their journals. They take ownership of them, treat them with care, and get excited when it's time to write. Many students who were once hesitant to put pencil to paper now eagerly ask when we can do poetry again. The journals provide a safe space for creativity, imagination, and self-expression, and they help build confidence in students who are just beginning their writing journeys.\r\n\r\nThese journals have also helped strengthen important skills such as fine motor development, phonics, sentence structure, and idea organization. Beyond academics, they give students a voice. They feel heard, valued, and proud to share their writing with classmates. Some students even ask to take their journals home to show their families, which has helped build a stronger connection between school and home.\r\n\r\nYour support has made a lasting impact on my classroom. This project is not just about journals—it's about empowering young writers, encouraging creativity, and fostering a love of writing at an early age. Because of you, my students are learning that their ideas matter and that their voices are important.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in our classroom and investing in our students. Your generosity has truly helped turn little writers into confident creators with big ideas.","fullyFundedDate":1762266400280,"projectUrl":"project/little-writers-big-ideas/9847263/","projectTitle":"Little Writers, Big Ideas!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. VanHorn","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10112923_orig.jpg?crop=1730,1730,x0,y34&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757097989353","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10112923"},{"teacherId":10112923,"projectId":9687120,"letterContent":"This project has had a huge impact on my kindergarten students by giving them access to high-quality art materials that make them feel like real artists. My students have absolutely loved exploring oil pastels and watercolors and having the freedom to create.\r\n\r\nRecently, we completed a Christmas tree watercolor painting, and the difference the proper watercolor paper made was incredible. As they painted, students kept saying, \"I feel like an artist!\" because the paper allowed them to control their paint without it bleeding outside the areas they wanted. This gave them confidence, pride in their work, and a true sense of accomplishment.\r\n\r\nThese art supplies support creativity, fine motor skills, and self-expression, while also helping my students see themselves as capable artists.
