Even though my students are in high school, they still found joy in creating something they could bring to their mom, dad, grandparent, etc. Even as teenagers, they still find meaning in making something special for someone they care about. When I completed their end of year survey, nearly 40% of students said that magnets were their favorite project of the year. I realize that it takes a commitment to students and education to allow a platform like this to be successful in providing supplies. I have used the resources to work on a gesture drawing unit in which I instruct students on recognizing lines, shapes, perspectives, and proportions of the human anatomy. The manikins allow us to see the basic structure in drawing sketches and framing angles of poses.\r\nWhen the students first saw them, they laughed a bit but enjoyed the fact they were allowed to do some hands-on poses. After they grouped the manikins in poses, they performed sketches of the different poses in their sketchbooks. After we completed this lesson, during the preceding classes they had to draw sketches of sport or action poses, and use the manikins as reference to have accurate posture.\r\nThe next steps will be to add more details to anatomy using value and texture. We definitely want to let you all know that we enjoyed working on this unit.
