Multiple classes on my campus were able to come to the library and work on creating complete sentences. This was a partner activity which allowed students to participate in student discourse and collaboration. This project has reached students from grades 1-5 and will continue to be used year after year. During the implementation of this project I moved roles on campus and I am now using this project to continue the fun in my ESL classroom. Students are working on mastering their writing skills in English as a second language and are able to focus on such a challenging concept in a fun way with the hard hats and construction vests. We were able to assign different colors to specific subjects, making it easier to keep everything sorted. For example, we used red folders for math, blue for science, and green for language arts, so everyone knew exactly where to find their materials. The folders also worked really well for group projects, with each group using a specific color to keep track of their research, drafts, and final work. I also used them to help students differentiate their assignments based on difficulty, so everyone felt challenged but not overwhelmed. The students loved the visual organization the folders provided and were thrilled to have a more structured way to manage their tasks.
