Howard Middle School\r\nMansfield ISD, Texas\r\nApril 3, 2026\r\nDear Donors,\r\nI am writing with sincere gratitude to thank you for your generous contributions and to share the meaningful impact they have had on my students at T.A. Howard Middle School, a Title I, low socioeconomic campus.\r\nIn recent years, it has been increasingly challenging to incorporate sufficient technology into my Spanish classroom. As enrollment has grown, access to devices provided by the district has been limited, and many families are unable to provide additional resources at home. Your support has helped bridge this gap in a truly transformative way.\r\nI teach a range of learners—from novice beginners to native speakers at the intermediate level. For novice students, consistent exposure, practice, and interaction with the target language are essential. Language acquisition begins with the interpretive mode—students must first see and hear the language to internalize it, much like how infants acquire their first language. Thanks to the tablets you provided, all students now have equitable access to engaging, interactive content that strengthens their ability to understand and apply Spanish.\r\nFor my advanced and native-speaking students, the need is different but equally important. While many can communicate conversationally, they often need support developing academic language proficiency in both Spanish and English. The tablets have enabled these students to expand their literacy skills, deepen their understanding, and build confidence—especially for newcomers adjusting to a new academic environment.\r\nTechnology has also allowed for immediate feedback, which supports differentiated instruction and encourages students to take ownership of their learning. They are able to identify their strengths and areas for growth in real time, making learning more personalized and effective.\r\nAdditionally, access to visual and audio resources—such as colorful illustrations and authentic language clips—has significantly enhanced student engagement. This has not only improved academic performance but has also fostered a genuine enthusiasm for learning.\r\nI am truly grateful that you chose to support my program. Your generosity is making a lasting difference in the lives of my students and helping them grow into confident, lifelong learners.\r\nThank you once again for your kindness and support.\r\nWith appreciation and blessings,\r\nPhilip Ledesma","fullyFundedDate":1760045411667,"projectUrl":"project/voices-without-borders-technology-for-l/9702362/","projectTitle":"Voices Without Borders: Technology for Language Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Maestro Ledesma","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10250759"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_9901","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":600,"numTeachers":56,"percentFrplEligible":78,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":44,"percentWhite":16,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":25,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"10.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":87.5,"schoolId":9901,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about T.A.
