Instead of being given numbers in a textbook, we are producing the numbers ourselves—and learning what those numbers actually mean.\r\nUsing modern data-collection equipment has also helped us develop important laboratory skills. We have learned to use scientific probes and sensors, troubleshoot equipment, improve experimental procedures, recognize sources of error, and determine whether our results support scientific theory. When an experiment does not produce the result we expected, we have learned that this isn't simply a \"wrong answer\"—it is an opportunity to investigate why.\r\nMost importantly, these experiences have helped us become more confident and capable chemistry students. The laboratory and data-analysis skills made possible through your donation have strengthened our understanding of difficult AP and IB Chemistry concepts and contributed to higher AP and IB scores.\r\nYour donation did much more than purchase laboratory equipment.\r\nYou gave us the opportunity to think like scientists.\r\nYou gave us the tools to work like scientists.\r\nYou gave us the confidence to become scientists.\r\nThe skills we are developing will follow us beyond our chemistry classroom into college laboratories, STEM majors, research opportunities, and future careers.\r\nThank you for believing that students deserve more than worksheets, simulations, and predetermined results.\r\nThank you for giving us real experiments, real data, and real learning.","fullyFundedDate":1776143897658,"projectUrl":"project/let-them-be-scientists-real-experiments/9998496/","projectTitle":"Let Them Be Scientists: Real Experiments, Real Data, Real Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sharp","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9108253_orig.jpg?crop=405,405,x0,y39&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757534081786","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9108253"},{"teacherId":9108253,"projectId":9783416,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous support of our Current Connections: Understanding Electrolytic and Voltaic Cells project. These experiences have transformed our classroom into a dynamic learning environment where students are asking deeper questions, collaborating thoughtfully, and thinking like scientists.\r\n\r\nYour support has not only strengthened students' understanding of complex chemistry concepts but has also increased their confidence and enthusiasm for science. For many of our AP and IB Chemistry students, this project has reinforced college-level laboratory skills and sparked greater interest in future STEM pathways.\r\n\r\nWe are incredibly grateful for your investment in our students and their education. Your investment in heat transfer and thermochemistry kits has made a powerful and lasting difference in the quality of hands-on science education in our classrooms.\r\n\r\nThese new kits have transformed how students explore one of the most fundamental—and often challenging—areas of chemistry. With access to high-quality materials designed specifically for thermochemical investigations, students are now able to:\r\n\r\nMeasure energy changes with increased precision\r\n\r\nExplore endothermic and exothermic processes safely and accurately\r\n\r\nInvestigate calorimetry concepts using real-world data\r\n\r\nAnalyze heat transfer using controlled, inquiry-based experimental setups\r\n\r\nThe inclusion of these kits has elevated our laboratory experiences across all levels. AP Chemistry students now engage more confidently with the enthalpy concepts and calorimetry calculations that appear in demanding Free Response Questions. IB Chemistry students benefit from laboratory precision essential for designing and executing Internal Assessments. Pre-AP Chemistry students—many of whom are just beginning their journey into advanced science—now experience the excitement of meaningful, hands-on thermochemistry that brings abstract concepts to life.\r\n\r\nBeyond content comprehension, these resources have ignited genuine curiosity and enthusiasm. Students who once struggled with the abstract nature of energy transfer are now empowered by seeing thermochemical principles unfold right in front of them. This deeper engagement not only enriches their understanding, but fuels their confidence as young scientists.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has created classroom experiences that are safer, more engaging, and far more aligned with real-world scientific practice. The impact of this grant will continue to ripple through our program for years, shaping students who think critically, investigate boldly, and see STEM as a field full of possibility.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our students and investing in the future of science education. We are truly grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1760737710902,"projectUrl":"project/some-like-it-hot-igniting-stem-through/9706051/","projectTitle":"Some Like it Hot: Igniting STEM Through Thermochemistry","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sharp","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9108253_orig.jpg?crop=405,405,x0,y39&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757534081786","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9108253"},{"teacherId":9108253,"projectId":9706325,"letterContent":"On behalf of our honors chemistry students, I want to extend our deepest gratitude for your generous support of our chemistry program through the \"Divide and Discover \"grant.
